Custom Homes Made for Summer
Summer is almost here! But since we have seen warm weather for a while now, if you have a patio, I'm sure you have already spend many days and nights relaxing there.
We have plenty of move-in ready homes that have patios waiting for you! But if you have some great ideas of a patio unique to you, Pointe Homes can build you a custom home from scratch. There are so many ways you can create the perfect patio space perfect for you and your family.
Though we see a lot of patios on concrete, it is not the only option. Adding beautiful tile to your outdoor space can continue the flow from your home interior and add some color. You can even enclose it with a metal grate on top to give you some privacy but still give you some sunlight or moonlight on those amazing summer nights.
And speaking of nights, we can build you a fireplace to add heat and ambience on chilly nights. And since this is El Paso, you'll find yourself enjoying your patio all year round!
There are so many ways to customize your home and patio. Come share your ideas with us and we can build your new custom home!
Home Details | El Paso Home Builders
Small details make a big difference! There is a reason why people use that expression. It applies to several aspects in life, and it definitely applies to your new home!
Of course, the design of your new home, the floor plan, the craftsmanship, the quality are all very important when your new home is built. And at Pointe Homes, we definitely have you covered on all that. We work diligently to provide you with excellent customer service and professionalism in our work.
But don't forget about those details. They make all the difference when your new home is complete. When you are selecting light fixtures, for example, you can choose something that reflects your style. Plus, depending on the kind of light you want in your home, you can even choose a dimmer for your fixtures to change the lighting whenever you please.
And the details don't stop at light fixtures. In your new kitchen alone, you can choose your style of faucet and backsplash. The style and color of your backsplash can be subtle or it can stand out and be the focal point of the kitchen.
There are so many details that go into making your new house a home. At Pointe Homes, all your home features can be modified depending on your needs, style, and budget. We can even help you build your dream home from scratch. Give us a call today and find out how we can start building for you!
Desert Landscapes in El Paso | New Home Builders
The days are longer, and that bright beautiful El Paso sun is shining. This weather definitely makes you want to start gardening, or garden more if you've already started! Gardening can definitely be fun, but we know that El Paso gets so hot come July or August, that taking care of your lawn becomes more difficult and time-consuming.
A great (and also beautiful!) solution for our climate is a desert landscape for your yard. A desert landscape is low maintenance, so taking care of it is an easy job. Plus, if you've just moved into your new home, you'll probably want to spend more time taking care and decorating the interior or just spending time inside with your family.
Since you will be using less water, it is great for the environment. Water is a precious natural resource, and by using less water for our lawns, we are helping this earth a step at a time.
Plus, with the gorgeous desert all around us, a landscape like this matches perfectly. There are several desert plants to use on your lawn. You can even get creative with large rock or flat stone. In the end, you'll have something more interesting to look at than a regular yard with grass!

Relaxing Atmospheres for Your Bathroom
It's Friday! We've had a busy week. It's time for a relaxing weekend!
Taking a bath is a great way to relax. It's important that the atmosphere in your bathroom is soothing. Choosing the right tile to surround your tub in your new home is a great start. Tile that gives a natural look in earth tone colors accented with glass tile helps create the right environment.
Have you thought about giving your bathtub and shower their own spaces? Leave the shower for your busy work week, but enjoy the tub during your own personal time. This can be designed in several ways. At Pointe Homes, we can custom build your new home. We can show you some ideas to help design and build your bathroom and the rest of your new home to your need and budget. Or if you already have some amazing ideas, share them with us! Our in-house design team can sit down with you and together, we can build your dream home.
Home Safety Tips for the Winter
We are very fortunate that our snow in El Paso only lasted a couple of days and was not too dangerous. However, if you know a bad storm is approaching, there are a few things you can do around your home to prepare for a power outage. House Beautiful gives their tips:
Prepare Your Emergency Kit
No matter where you live, it's good to have an emergency kit prepared in your home. It should have several items, including "a hand-crank or battery-powered radio, flashlights, a first aid kit (with gauze, tape, bandages, antibiotic ointment, aspirin, a blanket, non-latex gloves, scissors, hydrocortisone, thermometer, tweezers, and an instant cold compress), extra batteries, a whistle, hand sanitizer, garbage bags, and a tool kit.
Fill Up Your Car
It's safer to NOT drive during a storm, but in case you do, make sure to fill your car prior to the storm. And, always carry an emergency kit for your vehicle.
Stock Up on Food and Water
House Beautiful suggests "stocking up with enough water for three days — one gallon of water per person per day. You'll also need food for at least three days and a can opener. "
Fill Your Tub
In case you water gets shut off, you can skip the shower, but use water from the tub to keep filling the toilet.
Keep the Refrigerator and Freezer Closed
To keep your food lasting longer, keep the doors closed. Food can be safe up to four hours without the electricity. However, after the storm, be sure to toss "any perishable foods (like meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy and leftovers) that have been above 40 degrees for over two hours."

Create Relaxing Rooms in Your New Home
Your new home should always accommodate everything that is important to you. While your living room can be a lively place for hanging with the family, the bathroom can be a relaxing environment for a long soak in the tub.
If you are building a new custom home, there are several design tips you can follow to make sure you build the perfect relaxing setting. Choosing a neutral palette for the bathroom is a big step for creating a soothing atmosphere. Consider such palettes when choosing your paint color and bathroom tile.
Natural materials, such as stone tile, pebbled walls and floors, and wooden vanities give the bathroom a very organic and spa-like touch to your bathroom. Also, the more natural light you have in the bathroom of your new home, the better. But if there is little light in the bathroom, consider painting your walls white. Paired with light colored floors, like bamboo flooring, creates a natural light effect. And if you love taking long soaks in the evening, install a dimmer for a low-light, tranquil environment.

Cleaning Your Showerhead | New Homes El Paso
When you move into a new home, it is equipped with top quality features. It is always a good idea to take good care of them so they can last you a very long time. When showerheads get dirty with mineral deposits, the water cannot flow evenly. Here are some ways to keep them clean!
One way is the remove the showerhead and soak it in vinegar. With a new showerhead, it will screw right on to the shower arm. If it is older, it will connect to a ball-shaped swivel end. If you have trouble removing it, a good way to clean it is to slip a rubber band over the top of the showerhead. Fill a plastic bag with white vinegar and slip the top of the band underneath the rubber band. After one hour, remove the bag and run your shower to flush it clean.
For a much deeper clean follow these steps from Better Homes and Gardens
DISCONNECT YOUR SHOWERHEAD
To disconnect the showerhead, unscrew the nut at the shower arm with a wrench, not pliers
RINSE
"Run a sharp blast of water through the showerhead by holding it upside down underneath a faucet. Your goal is to rinse loosened debris out through the opening that connects to the shower arm."
DISMANTLE AND CLEAN
If there are still mineral deposits, scrub the showerhead with an old toothbrush and vinegar. and then use a toothpick or safety pin to poke out additional deposits. Soak the parts in vinegar overnight to dissolve any remaining deposits. Rinse again.
REASSEMBLE AND REINSTALL
"First wrap new plumbing tape around the threads of the shower arm to ensure a good seal. Reattach the showerhead to the shower arm using the wrench. Protect the fixture's finish with soft rags or towels while you're working."
Be sure to take good care of all your appliances in your new home. We want your home to accommodate you to the fullest for years and years. If you are looking for a new home or ready to build your custom dream home, give us a call! We want to build for you.
Lawn Care In The Winter | New Homes El Paso
El Paso is sunny and warm most of the year. But there are definitely those days in winter when it can get pretty cold! When it comes to your new home, there are several things you can do to prepare for those cold days. But don't forget about your lawn. Take proper care to avoid frozen lawns and plants this winter.
- Stay up-to-date on predicted freeze dates and be sure to water well before so the water can reach the root of your plants. When watering trees, be sure to water a very large area around the tree to cover the entire root zone, which can extend further out than you may think.
- Don't water if the temperature is below 40 degrees as this can actually cause a freeze. Choose to water on warmer days.
- Water your lawn every 3 to 10 days, for about 15 minutes each time, but be careful not to water deeper than four to six inches, as your lawn will not be able to extract it. You can easily measure the depth of water by inserting a ruler in the ground. If it is much deeper than six inches, you’ve watered too much; if you can’t press down farther than three inches, then you haven’t watered enough.
The exterior of your new home is just as important as the interior. Be sure to take good care of it throughout the year.
